Well, i am worried. very worried. i won't be around in 100 years but my kids might be, certainly grandchildren, if i ever have any. I would worry about their future. I believe in reincarnation, so its going to affect me anyway.. in a weird kinda way biggrin.gif

Reincarnation and not ressurrection???

I'm not clued up on my religion but isn't reincarnation a pagan belief and ressurection a christian one???

Someone needs to educate me on this matter so feel free to chip in and make it and interesting conversatition.

It might be both; it's definitely a Buddhist thing as Steph said. They believe everything living thing is a reincarnation, so if you've been really evil in one life, you might come back as a fly or something. That's why they don't believe in killing any living thing. Something along those lines.

Indeed it does biggrin.gif

But.. you can work your way up to be a human again..

And when you're human, through meditation you can reach 'enlightenment' which is a state of um.. being at peace with the world, and a feeling of knowing what the universe really means. And if you're really good, you get to 'Nirvana' where you can sit around with budda in the afterlife.. ie. you break the endless cycle of life and death.

Are you familiar with the writings and teachings of a French philosipher called George Gurdjieff???

Look him up on the internet.... I think you'll find him an interesting individual if you are into discovering the meaning of life's higher purpose (which I try to be LOL). He's magnum opus entitled "Beezlebub's Tales To His Grandson" is an increadibly advanced book (I didn't understand all of it) but a very enlightning one. Try finding a transcript of it on the net. I think you'll like it.

aww smile.gif

Reminds me of when a goose landed in our pond 2 years ago and wouldn't bugger off. I thought i had a 'connection' with it (it kept looking at me through the window) and i convinced myself it was my Polish Grandad tongue.gif

By the way Michael, i looked up George Gurdjieff on the net.

"A man may be born, but in order to be born he must first die, and in order to die he must first awake."

Damn straight wink.gif

but seriously, i've just spent the last 20 minutes looking around and from what i can find i think its very interesting. Looks like you have to part with cash if you want to learn more though.

There's some good stuff like that on the Shamen messageboard I'm on at www.nemeton.com

also i saw an episode of Catchphrase once wher Roy Walker came out with this pearl of wisdom: "The man who wants his dreams to come true, must wake up!" biggrin.gif
