What do you think may have happened if this was his debut single instead of Spaceman? Or if Spaceman wasn't on Levi's?

If Fire Guided Light had been released... probably wouldn't have been a hit but might have earnt him some credibility. Same goes for Spaceman if it hadn't been used for an ad.

We would probably have never heard of him. I'd say that most of us were all quite young when Spaceman was released, and music like Fire Guided Light wasnt exactly in the charts...and I dont think many 8-13 year olds read NME back in them days!

Music like FGL WAS in the charts. Think Placebo, Garbage and all the other British indie/grungey bands. I'm sure there are more.
If enough cred had been generated it would have got on to TOTP and we could have become fans.
I was 9 when Spaceman was in the chart incidentally.

Spaceman made me a fan so why wouldn't it everyone else???

Incidently, I think The Boy With The Xray Eyes should of been the first single as that song was made for the charts. The album should of been released before Spaceman.... but hey ho.... when your broke and releasing your first record.... it's money that counts and Jas made a shed load.

Does anyone know what the reason behind releasing All The Moneys Gone and Honaloochie Boogie were? Possibly the worst possible choices from that album IMO. Are You a Boy or a Girl and Manhattan Martian should have been the songs. 2 pieces of genius that would probably have went down a lot better than All The Moneys Gone.

I disagree All The Money's Gone was a great choice, but Manhattan Martian should have been the follow up.

I was gonna add in Stereo Superstar instead of Manhattan Martian, but I really think that song is genius. Maybe after Manhattan Martian reached the dizzy heights of about number 38 he could have released Stereo Superstar just incase it went higher!

It quite possibly is. Stereo Superstar, Boy or a Girl, Chrome Invader and Manhattan Martian are my favourites. Still have yet to hear this Love Lies Bleeding song. That thread was locked when someone asked for it.
