Covenant + support
7th May, Islington Academy

As predicted Covenant are touring to support their new album Skyshaper (which I can personally say is worth a listen even if it isn't out for *cough* a month or so).

As long as tickets aren't hideously priced I'll probably be going to this, and the support acts should be worth it as well as they have had the likes of Client and Rotersand in support on the German leg of their January tour.

Just got a headsup email from getlive and this is what it said....

HYDE PARK CALLING, JULY 1ST & 2ND, PROMISES TO BE THE MUSIC EVENT OF THE SUMMER

Roger Waters and The Who headline this weekend festival in the heart of London, with Razorlight, Texas and many more acts still to be announced.

Roger Waters will be performing Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ in it’s entirety as part of his set for the only time in the UK this year and The Who, will play a full set in London’s Hyde Park for the first time in 10 years.

Hyde Park Calling will be a unique and historic musical event with a main stage, 2nd stage and many surprises in store for music and festival fans of all ages.

Saturday see Roger Waters headline and perform Pink Floyd’s legendary ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ album as part of his set. Released in March 1973, the ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ album is widely regarded by critics and fans alike as Pink Floyd’s masterpiece – the album spent a record 28 YEARS in the American album chart. This will be Waters’ only British performance of ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ during 2006. Expect an amazing light show and a truly unforgettable evening.

The Who will close on Sunday, a year to the day since they performed a dynamic set at Live 8 and almost 10 years to the day since they last appeared in Hyde Park. The band, who remain one of the most exciting live groups in the world even in their 4th decade at the top, are working on a new studio album which is due for release later in 2006 and would be the first new album for 23 years. The Who are an integral part of British rock history and this London show will be unmissable.

Some may be interested......

.... And not forgetting the O2 Wireless festival in the same park with the said line ups-

Wednesday 21st June
The Strokes, Belle & Sebastian, Super Furry Animals
Thursday 22nd June
David Gray, KT Tunstall
Friday 23rd June
Massive Attack, The Flaming Lips, Pharrell Williams, DJ Shadow
Saturday 24th June
James Blunt, Zero 7, Eels, Nile Rodgers & Chic
Sunday 25th June
Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp, Bauhaus

Again, some maybe interested......

.......And I shall definately be attending this

This is something I posted on my Rocksoc forum.... maybe of interest to some here... obviously the bit about the coach leaving Bencraft won't be relevant but anyway......

Four of the U.K's best upcoming rock bands (Red Star Rebels, Lethal Fixx, Harley Street Clinic and The Burning Virgins) join forces to rid you of your socks at the Mean Fiddlers brilliant Garage venue in London on Saturday 29th April.

Bencraft's JCR brings you the chance to see this awesome event for the fantastic price of £8.00 which includes travel via coach to and from the show!!

The coach will leave Bencraft Halls at 16:30 and depart from the Garage at 00:00.

And yes, there is a bar!!

For £8 including travel this is a bargain. If your not doing anything on Saturday night, I strongly suggest some of you go and support some local talent.

I unfortunately have a wedding on the 29th which is also costing me my beloved Elektrofest, but I'm sure that won't stop any of you enjoying this little event for a mere £8!!

For further details on tickets contact Steve on 07784391603 or email st_anger_85@hotmail.com

I don't have proud to be loud.

Yeah Steve is a nice guy. Although when I first arrived in Southampton, he interviewed me for a bar job...... and I didn't get it laugh.gif

Well, talk about 6 degrees of seperation. If your not familiar with that term it means that everybody can be connected with everybody via 6 people. We made a connection through er...... one LOL. Small world.

I would love to go to this gig anyway, but my uncles getting married. I wonder if I can blow out the wedding LOL.

This a big thing for me and I shall most DEFINATELY be going.

The beautiful Icelandic prog rockers Sigur Ros are playing at The Southampton Guildhall. I don't know if they are touring the country but if your as interested as I am in this group and can't make southampton, then try and check out other tour date listings. I haven't looked for them.

Anyway, Guildhall, Tuesday 11th July, £22.50 + £1.50 booking fee... It's sooooo gonna be worth it.
