I saw an advert on channel 4 today for the forthcoming "50 Greatest one hit wonders". They didn't say who was on it the just played clips of songs with subtitles on ie "Shaddup Ya Face" had "That annoying italian bloke", "99 Red Balloons" had "Hairy armpit lady" and the Spaceman had "That man in a skirt".
It still annoys me that Animal Army did better than James Blunt's "High" and no-one called him a one hit wonder...
Maybe Jas will appear on the show? Or they could at least mention "Cold Clockwork Doll"?

Aha, I was wondering when this was going to be on TV.
It's on this Sunday from 9pm.

I fail to see how this is one of the greatest one hit wanders. It's one of the worst songs ever written..... ever!!

Didnt Animal Army hit number 8? Thats another top ten hit! Not a 1 hit wonder.

They wont show him on the show though I dont think. It would be cool if they did though and then he finally came onto this board, which im sure he still reads, and posted saying "hello friends!"

I'm hoping for some up to date info. You never know, channel 4 may have had more luck than us with tracking Jas down.

Can someone tell me what happened? My mum says Jas was on it, was it recent or archive?

I don't have a TV so missed it as well, but through the grapevine I heard it mentioned no new news and just went through the usual slagging off routine of Babylon Zoo. Not helpful....... It was at number 31.

Had a clip of Jas on the Ozone (1996) that you've seen. Mentioned Hub Records.
One talking head said Jas sold Spaceman to NASA and another Russian space agency. Is that true?

Oh yeah, that was a Radio 1 DJ that i HATE. I think he's fibbing.

'blah blah blah, everyone liked the music on the Levi's ad but the full song was disappointing blah blah blah'.

I had never seen the stupid levi's ad till last year. I heard the full length version on top of the pops first and thought it was awesome.

He did have a point though. People will say "where did it all go wrong?" But he made a killing from that 1 song, and the world didn't really think he was as much of a genius as he thought he was. I had never seen that interview before, nor could I remember his arrogance, but when you appear on TV believing all your own hype and thinking your the next best thing to God himself then you are going to be swallowed up and spat back out again.

I keep saying this..... but his genius was more than the music...... His art and fashion have more than stood the test of time. In some ways, time has still not caught up.....

If he believed it he'd still be around. Instead hes gone for good I imagine. Its a real shame because he had a lot of talent and should still be releasing music to his army of fans. Even Chesney Hawkes still fucking plays concerts. And the cunt who sung Spirit in the Sky! Babylon Zoo have more class than most modern bands. Maybe it would just be too much for Jas Mann to go and get his skirt back on, grab a few musicians and play some shows.

I love 99 Red Balloons!!
Especially the original version, but all my mates prefer the Goldfinger one. Damn fools.
